IDAL Instructor Biography

Tessa Wood-Woolard

Tessa Wood-Woolard is an interior designer and artisan painter from Rocky Mount, NC. She has been painting for over 20 years and was trained in Old World Italian finishes by Susan J. Warlick formerly of Raleigh, NC. She is currently teaching artisan finishes with the Historic Preservation Trades program at Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro, NC. Intrigued by the woodgraining, marbleizing and the associated artisan finishes found in regional Downeast homes, the students were eager to learn more about it and the applied arts. Her focus as a painter and designer since 2012 has been on preservation design, with a concentration on finding ways to preserve the motifs and architectural legacy of the Georgian and Federal design found in the Southeast.
